Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest tomorrow in response to persistent power load shedding and soaring electricity bills.

Addressing a press conference, he criticized Pakistan’s 2024-25 budget, calling it “utterly anti-people.”

They are not sending electricity bills, but these are bombs landing at the homes of power consumers,” Rehman declared. He emphasized that this protest marks the beginning of a movement that will continue until their demands are met.

Rehman attributed the root cause of power load shedding to the government’s policy, which has resulted in the country paying 2800 billion rupees for electricity that isn’t even generated. He also highlighted the government’s consideration of imposing a tax on solar systems as another burden on the public.
