Jodie Turner Smith shares insights into her evolving beauty routine as a busy mother of five, demonstrating how motherhood has deepened her understanding of self-care. The British actress, known for her roles in Tron: Ares and her modeling work, is still learning to integrate self-care amidst a demanding schedule.
In an exclusive interview with People, Jodie revealed that she finds herself increasingly focused on taking care of her own well-being after becoming a mother. “Motherhood has made me want to take care of myself more because if I’m not [put] together, then how can I take care of anybody else?” she said. The actress noted that with less time available, she’s had to get more creative and strategic about her self-care routine.
“Is beauty really just a Hollywood thing?” Jodie pondered in the interview. “I feel like everybody wants to feel good and wants their skin to look good or their hair to be soft. It’s good for your kids to see you look after yourself, too.”
Jodie particularly emphasizes how important it is for her daughter Juno to see her taking care of herself. “My favorite is in the mornings, putting beads in her hair or cute little barrettes, figuring out fun little up-dos,” she shared. “Then I’m like, ‘Okay, go look in the mirror,’ and she’s just loving that.”
The proud mom also noted how Juno enjoys having fun, dressing up, or getting her hair done. For Jodie, this not only reflects on her daughter’s youthful exuberance but also underscores her commitment to prioritizing self-care, both for her own sake and as a role model for her child.
As Jodie continues to navigate the demands of acting, modeling, motherhood, and personal growth, she highlights how motherhood has reshaped her understanding of what it means to prioritize self-care. Her insights serve as an inspiration for others who may be balancing multiple roles in their lives.
