The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken a significant step by forwarding the list of eligible journalists to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority. This move aims to facilitate the allotment of plots under the journalist’s quota in Islamabad’s Sectors Bara Khau and F14/15, as per the recommendations of the Plot Selection Committee.
The Plot Selection Committee, formed on 31-10-2017, comprises distinguished Rawalpindi and Islamabad-based journalists, including Mr. Afzal Butt, Mr. Shakeel Anjum, Mr. Nawaz Raza, Mr. Javaid Saddique, and Mr. Mubarrak Zeb Khan, along with key officials. This committee was tasked with scrutinizing the applicants for plot allotment.
Eligibility criteria were established to ensure fairness in the allocation process, requiring applicants to be full-time journalists working for Pakistani private media, with a minimum of 20 years of experience, including 15 years’ service in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Additionally, applicants or their family members must not have previously received a plot from any government agency.
Different criteria were set for sectors Bara Khau and F14/15, with “First Come, First Serve” for Bara Khau and “Age-Wise Seniority” for F14/15.
To address any grievances, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been formed to review applications in line with the eligibility criteria established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Concerned applicants have been urged to approach this committee within seven working days.
The list of eligible journalists recommended by the Plot Selection Committee for Phase-I (Bara Kahu) and Phase-II (F14/15) is now available on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s website, ensuring transparency and accessibility to all stakeholders.
