An important development has emerged ahead of the Judicial Commission meeting regarding the transfer of judges in the Islamabad High Court. According to sources, Justice Babar Sattar has written a letter to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is also the head of the Judicial Commission, requesting to be personally heard in the matter.
In his letter, Justice Babar Sattar stated that under Article 200 of the Constitution, he should be given an opportunity to be heard before any decision regarding transfers is made. His name is also included among the judges under consideration for transfer. Sources said the Judicial Commission meeting on judges’ transfers will be held today, during which the names of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Babar Sattar, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz will be reviewed.
The list also includes Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi had opposed convening a meeting on judges’ transfers; however, the session was called following a requisition by five members and under the chairmanship arrangement involving Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
