The Leader of the Opposition in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr Ibadullah Khan, has criticized the provincial government for treating the Tirah Valley situation as a political spectacle rather than addressing it as a serious security and governance issue. Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the Video Journalists Forum on Tuesday, Dr Ibadullah asserted that what the Chief Minister held in Khyber was not a traditional jirga but a public rally.
He accused the provincial government of prioritizing politics over addressing the Tirah issue, with local residents suffering as a result. Dr Ibadullah highlighted that during the tenure of PTI’s founding leader, over a hundred attacks occurred in the province under government support, and subsequently, when a regime change took place in Afghanistan, the PTI founder described it as a significant victory.
Dr Ibadullah also alleged that the PTI founder had previously stated that offices should be given to the Taliban. He emphasized the need for the Chief Minister to focus on resolving people’s issues rather than staging protests at chowks. Dr Ibadullah noted that after his meeting with the Prime Minister, “everything became clear” to him.
