Karachi Air Cargo Unit Foils Marijuana Smuggling Attempt Worth Rs. 30.7 Million

The Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU) of Pakistan Customs, operating under the Collectorate of Customs, Airports, Karachi, has foiled an attempt to smuggle marijuana into the country through the International Mail Office (IMO), Karachi.

Customs officials said the contraband, weighing approximately 1.03 kilograms (gross) and valued at Rs. 30.716 million, was recovered from a parcel originating from the United States. The shipment had been falsely declared as containing books to evade detection.

The seizure underscores Pakistan Customs’ continued vigilance against smuggling through all channels, including international mail. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strict enforcement of customs laws and safeguarding public safety.

Further legal proceedings are underway under the relevant provisions of the law.
