Karachi Court Grants Bail to Karsaz Accident Suspect After Out-of-Court Settlement

A sessions court in Karachi granted bail on Friday to Natasha Danish, the prime suspect in the Karsaz traffic accident case, following an out-of-court settlement with the victims’ family.

Natasha was arrested for driving recklessly on August 19, resulting in an accident that claimed the lives of a man and his daughter. The court, in its decision, allowed bail after an agreement was reached between the accused and the legal heirs of the victims.

The court set the bail amount at Rs100,000 and also granted bail to Danish Iqbal, Natasha’s husband, who is implicated in the case.

A copy of the affidavit submitted by the victims’ family reads, “We have reached a settlement and have forgiven the accused. We forgive her in the name of Allah, who is the Most Merciful and Compassionate.”

The family further stated that they had no objections to the suspects being granted bail and released from prison, emphasizing that the accident was not intentional. The affidavit clarified that the decision was made without any external pressure and reflected their genuine stance.

The aggrieved party’s lawyer, Barrister Aziz Ghouri, denied that diyat (blood money) was paid to the family, saying that the suspect was pardoned “in the name of Allah”.
