Karachi residents are voicing frustration at the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) over days of widespread gas outages, despite paying steep monthly bills. Many have drawn parallels to Karachi Electric (KE), another utility often criticized for erratic services.
Areas worst hit include North Karachi, Bilal Site, Metroville, PIB Colony—where residents reported four days without gas—Jamshed Road, Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal, and Keamari. Locals say the gas supply remains disrupted even for basic needs.
SSGC officials have been largely unresponsive, offering no formal comment. However, internal sources attribute the crisis to a shortfall of 300 MMCFD (million cubic feet per day).
This explanation has failed to satisfy residents, who demand immediate restoration of gas supply and accountability for the mismatch between their bills and the unreliable service.
