The KHI Awards 2025, K-Electric’s flagship initiative celebrating the enduring spirit of service, has entered a critical evaluation phase. This year’s theme, “Khidmat Ka Jazba Rahe Roshan Sada,” underscores the pressing need for social responsibility and community development in Karachi and its surrounding regions.
Now in its fourth year, the awards continue to shine a spotlight on institutional philanthropy, with 166 entries received this year—a notable increase from 2024. To ensure fairness and transparency, independent audit firm EY is monitoring the entire process, including a thorough review of submissions and an in-depth evaluation by an esteemed jury in Karachi.
This process will culminate in a virtual session on January 28, 2025, allowing for an inclusive review of the remaining entries. The KHI Awards 2025 jury comprises a distinguished group of experts, reflecting diverse sectors such as education, healthcare, social entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability. The panel includes prominent figures like Javed Jabbar, Baela Raza Jamil, Ameena Saiyid, Shehzad Roy, Ayesha Tammy Haq, and Ronak Lakhani, among others.
A subsequent virtual session will feature dignitaries including Zarrar Khuhro, Dr. Naveed Arshad, Khalid Malik, and Musharaf Hai, ensuring comprehensive and inclusive evaluations. The awards have drawn applications from renowned organizations like NOWPDP, Saylani Welfare Trust, LRBT, SOS Village, HANDS, the Shahid Afridi Foundation, and many more. These entries span 14 diverse categories, including healthcare, women’s empowerment, sustainability, and community development, highlighting the breadth of impactful work being done across Karachi.
Saad Amanullah Khan, Chairperson of the KHI Awards Jury and Member of K-Electric’s Board of Directors, lauded the initiatives, saying, “The vibrant work happening at the grassroots level is unbelievable. KHI Awards provide NGOs with a platform to showcase their efforts and win through an independent evaluation process carried out by an esteemed jury. This initiative is a gift to Karachi, helping uplift the socio-economic fabric of the city.”
Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer at K-Electric, emphasized the importance of the awards in supporting community-driven organizations. “Last year, 43 projects won in different categories. This platform stands alongside organizations working tirelessly to support Karachi’s communities, even in the toughest times. The KHI Awards 2025 reflect our commitment to integrity, transparency, and inclusivity.”
Since their inception in 2021, the KHI Awards have processed over PKR 110 million in electricity rebates and recognized 108 organizations, empowering them to amplify their efforts. These awards have catalyzed projects that positively impact millions of lives, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
