The King hosted a private dinner at Windsor Castle last night to mark the first anniversary of His Highness the Aga Khan’s accession. A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed this event, which was also shared on the official Instagram account of the Royal Family.

Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini was named the 50th hereditary Imam after his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, passed away last year. Born on October 12, 1971, the U.S.-educated, Swiss-based Prince Rahim is the eldest son of Aga Khan IV.

Prince Rahim has served on the boards of various agencies within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). He currently chairs its Environment and Climate Committee. Established in 1967, the AKDN comprises international development agencies employing 80,000 people dedicated to building schools, hospitals, and providing electricity for millions of people living in poverty-stricken areas of Africa and Asia.
