Lahore High Court Accepts Petition Against Imran Khan’s Video-Link Trial Notification

The Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court has accepted a petition challenging the video-link trial notification for PTI founder Imran Khan in high-profile cases, including the GHQ attack and May 9 incidents. During proceedings, the court issued notices to the Punjab Advocate General and adjourned the hearing indefinitely.

The bench, comprising Justices Sadaqat Ali Khan and Tahir Mahmood Bajwa, heard the petition filed by Imran Khan’s legal team. Represented by advocates Sardar Latif Khosa and Faisal Malik, the team argued that conducting a video-link trial for such critical cases violates the constitutional right to a fair trial under Article 10A.

The lawyers stated that while other accused are appearing in person, Khan is restricted to appearing via video link, which they claim undermines proper legal consultation and case preparation. They described the arrangement as politically motivated and requested the court to declare the video-link notification invalid.

While approving the petition for hearing, the court rejected the request for an immediate date, stating that it will schedule a specific hearing in due course.
