LESCO Lifts Ban on Green Meters for Solar Until October 15

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has lifted the ban on green meters used in solar systems, according to a newly issued notification.

The notification permits the temporary installation of bi-directional green meters until October 15. Consumers will also receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for these meters.

Previously, LESCO had mandated the installation of AMI meters starting from July 1, 2024, leading to a significant price increase. However, due to a shortage of stock at meter manufacturing companies, the supply of meters became impossible, prompting the government to lift the ban on green meters.
