A woman was discovered deceased inside her home in Fenton, Missouri, where a 69-year-old man had been staying when deputies arrived at around 3 PM on Saturday. Police officers found him dead by suicide in a hotel approximately 23 miles away, with guests being evacuated and taken to school as a precaution.
The suspect was previously convicted of murder and was deemed potentially armed and dangerous. Detectives followed the suspect to a local motel where they remained for several hours, attempting to apprehend him. The man’s death occurred early Sunday morning when officers entered his room on the third floor, finding him dead from what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities indicated that the investigation was still ongoing and had not yet released the names of both the victim and suspect due to pending notification of their families.
