Maradona’s Daughter Slams Doctors’ Manipulation in Family Before 2020 Death

Diego Maradona’s daughter, Gianinna, testified at his medical team’s trial on Tuesday. She accused doctors of “total manipulation” leading up to her father’s 2020 death.

The seven-person medical team is charged with gross negligence over Maradona’s passing at age 60. Gianinna told the court in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, that medics convinced her and siblings their father could recover safely at his home in Tigre after surgery for a brain clot.

She said doctors assured her residence would be well-equipped medically. The defendants face prison terms of eight to 25 years if convicted of homicide with possible intent. They argue Maradona died from natural causes, heart failure, and acute pulmonary edema two weeks post-surgery.
