
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Honors Workers on International Labour Day
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid tribute to workers on International Labour Day, emphasizing their vital role in the economy and national development. In her special message, she praised the global workforce, particularly working women who support their families.
The chief minister stressed the need for fair wages, safe working conditions, healthcare access, and quality education for workers’ children. She pledged Punjab’s commitment to improving living standards and ensuring prosperity for the labor class.
Over 1.4 million workers have benefited from ration cards and a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000, while thousands receive free medical treatment through social security hospitals and dispensaries. Housing facilities are being provided, with 750 flats already allocated and another 1,872 to be offered in the future. A bachelor hostel for 700 workers is also under development.
Vigilance centers, teleclinics, and an Occupational Safety and Health Management Centre will soon be established. Marriage grants have increased from Rs400,000 to Rs600,000, and death grants raised from Rs800,000 to Rs1 million. The establishment of “Gosha-e-Mazdoor” in Lahore offers workers a dedicated space for rest and shelter.
