Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underscored on Saturday that the Rajanpur and Katcha regions have been thoroughly cleansed of criminal elements following a successful security operation. Speaking at a high-level review meeting, she indicated these once-dominant areas are now under full state authority.
“In the Katcha regions, a state within a state had functioned for far too long, with criminals entrenched and terrorizing residents through honey traps,” Maryam Nawaz said. “Today, we have restored the rule of law; fear has been replaced by governance.”
Maryam Nawaz highlighted the operation’s effectiveness, noting that over 500 individuals surrendered during it, a feat made possible by advanced surveillance technologies including drones and modern weaponry for suspect tracking.
She emphasized the significant support provided by the Army in coordination with the Police, adding there were no casualties. The Chief Minister also commended Sindh’s contribution, describing their cooperation as crucial to the operation’s success.
“We will not hesitate to enforce our authority against those who challenge it,” she stressed. “Public safety is my government’s top priority.”
Maryam Nawaz reported that since the operation concluded 45 days ago, no honey-trap abductions had been reported.
She announced development initiatives for Katcha areas, including road construction and a Green Bus service, among other essential facilities designed to ensure long-term peace and stability for residents.
“We are committed to offering our people basic amenities and comprehensive support,” she said.
