Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited verification counters at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to review the process and meet traders affected by the Gul Plaza incident. Murad Ali Shah reassured them that his government would temporarily accommodate those displaced from their stores, offering support in markets like Parking Plaza, New Jamia Market, and Royal Market on Korangi Road. The chief minister also confirmed that 1,153 compensation cheques for Rs500,000 each were ready for affected shopkeepers.

As the verification of losses and ownership continued at specially established counters, Murad Ali Shah observed firsthand as traders submitted claims related to their shops’ ownership or tenancy. He personally addressed a large gathering of Gul Plaza-affected vendors, who presented their claims before KCCI leaders like Zubair Motiwala and Javed Bilwani.

Addressing the traders with empathy, Murad Ali Shah emphasized, “We are determined to ensure the complete rehabilitation of the affected traders and will not rest until they are back on their feet.” He added that the Sindh government had already paid Rs10 million each to 45 families of the 62 martyrs in the tragedy. A communique confirmed these commitments from the chief minister’s instructions, as he reiterated his commitment to supporting victims and shared the president’s directive for comprehensive rehabilitation.

Murad Ali Shah also noted that President Asif Ali Zardari had directed efforts to alleviate the pain of affected families, underscoring the government’s resolve in aiding the Gul Plaza incident’s survivors. The chief minister’s visit exemplified Sindh’s commitment to helping victims regain stability and prosperity amidst their hardships.
