New Zealand Defends P-8A Patrol Aircraft

China’s Foreign Ministry accused a New Zealand P-8A patrol aircraft of undermining its security interests after it conducted reconnaissance and harassment near Chinese waters.

The ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, stated that the actions disrupted civil aviation order and increased risks of misunderstanding and miscalculation.

New Zealand Defence Force clarified that their Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft was monitoring North Korean sanctions evasions under UN Security Council resolutions.
