In a significant discovery for Pakistan’s energy sector, the state-owned Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) announced this week that its Dars West-3 well, situated in Tando Allah Yar district of Sindh, has yielded substantial natural gas and condensate production.
The company revealed that during initial testing, the well operated at an impressive rate of 9.70 million standard cubic feet per day of gas paired with 580 barrels per day of condensate. The discovery was made using a choke size of 36/64 inches, setting a new benchmark for the region.
OGDCL is currently laying pipelines to connect this well directly to the KPD-TAY processing facility. Upon completion, the extracted gas will undergo further purification and integration into Pakistan’s state network (SSGCL). This move underscores OGDCL’s commitment to bolstering the nation’s energy infrastructure in a sustainable manner.
The news of the Dars West-3 discovery marks a pivotal moment for Sindh’s oil and gas sector, highlighting the company’s forward-looking approach towards securing Pakistan’s future energy needs. The announcement comes as Pakistan continues its journey toward diversifying and stabilizing its energy supply chain, ensuring greater energy security for all stakeholders.
