
More than 15 dangerous prisoners escaped from the district jail in Rawalakot on Sunday, initiating a district-wide security alert.
According to the police, the prisoners took the jail staff hostage and managed to flee. One prisoner was killed by gunfire during the escape.
Security was heightened across the district, with multiple checkpoints set up to apprehend the fugitives. SP Muhammad Riaz Mughal reported that one prisoner held the guard at the main gate at gunpoint, facilitating the escape.
The escaped prisoners include individuals involved in terrorism, murder, attempted murder, and drug trafficking.
