Pakistan pays homage to Hazrat Ali with deep religious devotion
The nation observes Youm-e-Ali, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Ali ibn Abi Talib, across Pakistan. This day is marked by processions and stringent security measures.
In Karachi, several streets were sealed off in preparation for the procession, which took place in broad daylight under armed guard. A mourning gathering was held at Nishtar Park prior to the main event, set to culminate with a central procession towards Hussainia Iranian Imambargah.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi witnessed its Youm-e-Ali procession concluding after reaching Imambargah Colonel Maqbool. Peshawar saw its parade winding through Kochi Bazaar before returning to Imambargah Syed Alam Shah for the final leg of the event.
The provincial home minister in Karachi has been reviewing security arrangements, and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar directed authorities to implement exceptional security measures. He emphasized that until an investigation into the February 28 incident is concluded, no individual can be blamed for the shooting where 11 people lost their lives outside the United States Consulate.
The home minister further stressed that police transfers are just administrative actions and that conclusions should not rush to make any conclusions premature in such sensitive matters. He also noted an ongoing probe into the February 28 incident, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
