Pakistan Launches Indigenous Satellite EO-3

Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) successfully launched the indigenous electro-optical satellite EO-3 from China’s Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre. The launch, described as a “historic achievement,” underscores Pakistan’s growing technological capability and push towards greater self-reliance in the space sector.

Officials stated that the EO-3 satellite will provide high-resolution imaging data to support various national priorities such as urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental protection. It is expected to play a key role in developing an integrated Earth observation system, enabling more informed decision-making and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised SUPARCO’s engineers and scientists for their professionalism and dedication, calling the launch a major step forward for Pakistan’s technological advancement. He also acknowledged China’s continued support, reflecting the longstanding partnership between the two countries in advancing Pakistan’s space ambitions.
