Pakistan on Friday announced the launch of Indus AI Week 2026, a week-long national initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence across the country. The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, with the event scheduled to take place from February 9 to 15, 2026.

The initiative positions Pakistan as an emerging player in the global artificial intelligence landscape, with a focus on scaling responsible and practical AI use. Indus AI Week is designed to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, startups, students, and the broader technology ecosystem to promote awareness, build skills, and encourage real-world AI adoption across sectors.

Organised by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication through a public-private partnership, Indus AI Week has been conceived as an open and inclusive national platform for learning, exploration, and collaboration. Activities will be held in Islamabad as well as across multiple cities nationwide.

The programme will feature a national technology showcase, startup and innovation spotlights linking founders with investors, AI skills training and certification opportunities, and interactive public engagement activities. A dedicated gaming and experiential AI arena will also be part of the agenda, aimed at making artificial intelligence more accessible and understandable to the general public.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative builds on the foundation laid by Pakistan’s National AI Policy introduced last year.
“With Indus AI Week, we are moving beyond conversations toward adoption,” she said. “By connecting policy, industry and talent, this platform strengthens Pakistan’s position as a credible participant in the global AI ecosystem and opens doors for international collaboration.”

The week will commence with the Indus AI Summit at the Jinnah Convention Center on February 9, followed by the Innovation, Learning and Engagement Arena at the Islamabad Sports Complex on February 9 and 10. From February 9 to 15, universities, companies and public institutions across Pakistan will host co-branded activities under the Indus AI Week banner.
