In a historic achievement for Pakistan’s digital transformation and trade facilitation, Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has been declared one of the three winners of the prestigious Asia-Pacific Trade Facilitation Innovation Awards 2026. The award was presented during Paperless Trade Week 2026 in Bangkok, an elite global forum jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations ESCAP under the theme “Next Generation Trade Digitalization – Advancing Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation.”

The award was received by Syed Aftab Haider, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Single Window, on behalf of PSW and Pakistan. This recognition highlights PSW’s strategic role in advancing Pakistan’s digital trade ecosystem, improving regulatory efficiency, and contributing to the country’s broader economic modernization.

PSW secured global recognition for the successful design, development, and implementation of the Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS). The IRMS represents a transformative shift in how Pakistan manages border clearance. Instead of subjecting all inbound and outbound cargo to slow, manual inspections, the IRMS acts as an intelligent, automated engine, evaluating every trade declaration against predefined regulatory rules, risk-scoring models, and AI-driven analytics. It automatically assigns consignments to the appropriate clearance channels without human intervention.

By instantly identifying high-risk consignments requiring strict regulatory assessment, the system allows the vast majority of legitimate, low-risk trade to proceed without unnecessary delays. This ensures that national enforcement resources are focused precisely where vulnerabilities exist, while compliant businesses benefit from faster and more predictable trade processes.

Syed Aftab Haider, CEO of Pakistan Single Window, expressed his pride on this collective achievement, and commented, “Winning the Asia-Pacific Trade Facilitation Innovation Award is a very proud moment, not just for PSW, but for Pakistan’s public and IT sectors, as well. This global recognition is a direct reflection of our team’s dedication to transforming cross-border trade through digital trust. With the IRMS, we have successfully evolved a fragmented operational function into a structured, accountable, and sustainable national capability. We are proving that Pakistan is now actively setting global benchmarks.”

Unlike traditional tools, the IRMS is legally enforced under the Pakistan Single Window Act, 2021, and its comprehensive rules have been officially notified as a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO). This ensures a uniform, binding legal and operational framework that applies equally across all cross-border regulatory agencies in Pakistan, eliminating bureaucratic silos and ensuring institutional transparency.

Throughout Paperless Trade Week, PSW showcased its suite of digital trade solutions at a dedicated pavilion in Bangkok, engaging with international delegates and demonstrating how its technical architecture minimizes dependence on paper-based processes.

This award further strengthens PSW’s position as a leader in Pakistan’s trade digitalization journey. Through technology-driven solutions such as the IRMS, PSW is helping Pakistan improve operational efficiency, enhance regulatory coordination, support ease of doing business, and build a more transparent, resilient, and digitally connected trade ecosystem, contributing meaningfully to national economic growth.
