Pakistan has reaffirmed its stance on the Abraham Accords, emphasizing support for a free, independent, and sovereign Palestinian state. This declaration came during a press briefing by Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, who highlighted recent diplomatic engagements despite Eid holidays.

The engagements included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China from May 23-26, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The premier also chaired a Pakistan-China B2B investment conference in Hangzhou focusing on IT, telecom, battery energy storage, and agriculture.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar visited New York for UN Security Council debates and the Group of Friends on Global Governance discussions. He met with foreign ministers and senior UN officials, including the UN Secretary-General and counterparts from several countries.

Dar also met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, DC, where both leaders appreciated bilateral relations’ positive trajectory and agreed to strengthen trade, economic ties, cultural cooperation, counterterrorism efforts, and security.

Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach extended to regional stability discussions with Egypt, Iran, and Kuwait. Deputy Prime Minister held calls with foreign ministers from these countries, discussing regional developments.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas visited Pakistan on June 1, co-chairing the 8th session of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue. She met several Pakistani leaders, underscoring high-level political engagement.

During question hour, Andrabi confirmed that ten Pakistanis remain in Somali pirate custody and efforts are underway for their safe return.
