Pakistan condemned recent unwarranted attacks against Iran and urged immediate diplomatic engagement at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Speaking at the session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, underscored Islamabad’s growing concern over escalating regional tensions.

The council meeting highlighted how US and Israeli air strikes on Iran had triggered divisions among its members. In his statement, Ahmad condemned the attacks as a blatant violation of international law, pointing out that such actions undermined peace and stability in the Middle East.

Pakistan also expressed solidarity with Gulf states targeted by these attacks. He noted the efforts made by Arab countries to avoid escalation, commending Oman for mediating talks between Iran and the United States.

Ahmad’s statement highlighted how regional countries, including Pakistan, faced threats from unwarranted violence. The attack on a Pakistani national in the UAE further underscored the dangers of such actions. Ahmad urged all sides to prevent any activities that could jeopardize the security and territorial integrity of the region.

Pakistan extended its condolences to victims of violence, especially schoolchildren affected by attacks in Iran. He also acknowledged the risk posed by escalating military actions against states under international law and the UN Charter.

Ahmad underscored Pakistan’s commitment to upholding the principles outlined in these documents. The ambassador called for full respect for international laws, including those governing regional stability and humanitarian considerations. He emphasized that millions of Pakistanis residing in the region remained a top priority.

In conclusion, Ahmad reiterated his country’s call for dialogue and negotiations as the primary means toward achieving peace and resolving conflicts. He urged immediate cessation of actions leading to escalation and an urgent return to diplomatic channels to secure a peaceful resolution.
