Heavy rains that recently hit Balochistan have given way to a return of cold and dry conditions. According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 18 people lost their lives in these rain-related incidents, including 11 children and seven men.
The injured included 11 children, four women, and two men. The districts most affected were Zhob, Kohlu, Dakki, Jafarabad, Harnai, Kech, Kachi, Qila Abdullah, and Musakhel. In total, 35 houses were destroyed and 127 partially damaged.
In Musakhel alone, 65 sheep and goats perished due to lightning strikes. Meanwhile, Abbottabad and surrounding areas are experiencing intermittent rain on Thursday, while snowfall continues in Galiyat and Thandiani, making the weather extremely cold. Temperatures in Galiyat have dropped below freezing point, leading to several road closures due to landslides, authorities said.
