Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Libya on Monday, according to military media affairs. In a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Libyan Arab Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar and Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar met CDF Munir at Rawalpindi’s General Headquarters.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, focusing on security dynamics in their respective regions and professional cooperation. The statement emphasized the importance of continued engagement and collaboration between Pakistan and Libya’s armed forces.
CDF Munir welcomed the distinguished guests, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering relations with Libya. He underscored support for peace, stability, and institutional development in Libya.
The meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding friendly relationship between Pakistan and Libya, ISPR noted.
Earlier, upon Haftar’s arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, CDF Munir received him. Haftar also paid homage to the shuhada and laid wreaths at martyrs’ memorial at GHQ, according to the statement.
In December, Pakistan signed a significant multi-billion-dollar deal with Libya to sell conventional military equipment worth over $4 billion to the Libyan National Army (LNA), Reuters reported. This was one of Pakistan’s largest-ever weapons sales.
