Pakistan’s IT sector achieved unprecedented growth, with exports increasing by 34.9% during the first four months of the current fiscal year, exceeding $1.2 billion, according to Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Compared to $891 million during the same period last year, IT exports rose by over $300 million, with October 2024 showing a 38.6% increase from October 2023, jumping from $230 million to $318 million.
Shaza Fatima credited the government’s proactive initiatives, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), for fostering innovation, improving infrastructure, and boosting Pakistan’s global IT competitiveness. “All institutions, with the SIFC’s full backing, are working tirelessly to sustain this momentum,” she said.
Additionally, Pakistan’s overall exports grew by $1.29 billion in the first four months of the fiscal year. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported a 13.55% year-on-year increase, with total exports crossing $10.88 billion.
