Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced an eight-hour gas supply suspension in parts of Karachi on December 14, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, due to the relocation of a high-pressure gas pipeline in the Peoples Chowrangi area for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
Major facilities including Agha Khan Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Saylani Welfare Trust will be affected by the outage. Nearby households have already been facing gas restrictions as part of ongoing profiling measures.
SSGC emphasized that the pipeline relocation is crucial for the BRT project’s infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad is grappling with severe gas shortages as winter intensifies, with daily disruptions in gas supply and low pressure affecting residents, particularly in Latifabad and Qasimabad. Gas outages are impacting daily life, with many turning to expensive alternatives for cooking and heating needs. Despite widespread concerns, SSGC has yet to take effective action to resolve the issue.
