Pat Cummins, Australia’s seasoned Test and ODI captain, has named 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as his “new favourite player” following the young prodigy’s remarkable achievement in the IPL.
Sooryavanshi smashed a 36-ball century for Rajasthan Royals, scoring 103 runs to become the youngest player ever to reach 1,000 T20 runs. This feat surpassed Mitchell Owen’s record of 533 balls faced and was achieved in just 473 balls.
Despite his team’s total being dismissed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sooryavanshi’s performance remains a testament to his talent. Cummins praised the teenager’s aggressive batting style, noting that it adds excitement to the game.
Sooryavanshi has been outstanding this season, scoring 357 runs in eight matches with two 15-ball fifties and an impressive strike rate of 234.86. His performances have sparked discussions about his potential inclusion in the senior Indian national team.
