In a poignant tribute, the Pakistan Cricket Board mourned the passing of former international umpire Rab Nawaz Sr., who succumbed to his prolonged illness at age 85. Formerly known as a right-hand batter and right-arm off-spinner, Nawaz had made significant contributions to cricket in both batting and officiating capacities. His career came to a notable close when he inaugurated his umpiring journey with a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 29, 1982.

Nawaz’s final appearance as an umpire took place against New Zealand at the Sialkot Cricket Ground on December 2, 1984. Throughout his illustrious career spanning two first-class matches and two ODIs between 1982 and 1984, Nawaz demonstrated a steadfast commitment to upholding cricket’s integrity.

The entire Pakistan Cricket Board community expressed profound condolences to the family of Rab Nawaz Sr., acknowledging this irreparable loss. May the Almighty grant them strength during their challenging time, offering solace amid their grief as they navigate this unprecedented sorrow.
