Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) tightens security at PSL team hotels.

The PCB has issued new directives to PSL franchises, tightening security measures at team hotels. Only close family members will be allowed into player rooms with a 24-hour notice.

Security breach reported in Lahore Qalandars’ hotel room.

Reports emerged that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza had brought individuals into their hotel room without permission. Police accused both players of violating security protocols, prompting PCB action.

Punjab Police letter to PCB and PSL Chief alleges unauthorized entry by Afridi and Raza.

The police letter alleged the breach was serious and urged authorities to take strict measures to prevent such incidents in future, emphasizing discipline and security standards importance.

Sikandar Raza takes responsibility for incident.

Raza stated that friends were brought into his room at Shaheen’s request. He clarified there was no intention to violate rules and added that if SOPs prohibited room visits, they were not clearly communicated. Raza took full responsibility for the incident.

Lahore Qalandars fines Afridi 1 million rupees for violating security protocols.

As part of internal disciplinary action, Lahore Qalandars fined captain Shaheen Afridi 1 million rupees. The franchise reiterated commitment to following tournament regulations and preventing future incidents.

New guidelines from PCB reinforce existing rules and introduce additional access control measures within team hotels.

In an official email, the PCB stated that further to Operations Manual guidelines, it is reiterating policy regarding visits by family members and external guests at team hotels. Prior notice of 24 hours will be required for outside guest visits arranged in a designated hotel location. Direct family members—spouse, father, mother, brother, sister, and children—will have access to player rooms with the same notice period.
