Established to identify, evaluate, and resolve discrepancies arising from the recently announced Federal Budget 2026-27, this move aims to ensure fiscal policies align with business realities. The inclusion of leadership reflects a targeted approach by the government to bridge macroeconomic policymaking and private-sector execution.
Atif Ikram Sheikh stated that resolving these anomalies is critical for maintaining industrial momentum, sustaining export competitiveness, and meeting broader macroeconomic targets. He emphasized that his focus as Co-Chair will be on ensuring taxation measures do not stifle growth amid high business costs and structural economic adjustments.
The Anomaly Committee–Business will serve as the primary mechanism for trade and industrial sectors to present evidence-based cases regarding unintended tax burdens, regulatory bottlenecks, and discrepancies in the Finance Bill. experts have already begun compiling a data-driven ledger of budgetary discrepancies impacting manufacturing, exports, and other sectors.
