The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has taken action following public concerns over a teaser uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Green TV for the drama serial “Fasana Mart Ka”, which was being promoted as a Ramadan Special. The teaser was reported to contain content that was vulgar, featuring music intermingled with dancing, which hurt religious sentiments among viewers.
In response, PEMRA directed the broadcaster to remove the teaser immediately. The broadcaster has since confirmed that the objectionable content has been deleted from all relevant digital and social media platforms.
PEMRA expressed its appreciation for the vigilance of citizens who brought this matter to its attention in large numbers. The authority highlighted that public engagement plays a critical role in helping regulatory institutions maintain the standards of responsible broadcasting, particularly during religious occasions or when content touches on religious sensitivities.
The regulatory body stated that the matter was addressed promptly, and appropriate regulatory action was initiated following a review. PEMRA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing applicable laws and regulatory frameworks to ensure that both broadcast and digital media content remain consistent with Pakistan’s cultural and religious values.
The Authority also emphasized the importance of responsible reporting by the public. Citizens not only help enforce standards but also contribute to ensuring that media platforms operate in accordance with societal and ethical norms.
