Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed regional developments during a 30-minute phone call on Eid al-Azha. They exchanged greetings, expressed good wishes for their respective countries and the Muslim Ummah, and acknowledged each other’s contributions to peace efforts.
Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s role in restoring peace, thanked Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts, and recognized Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and other regional players. Sharif expressed solidarity with Iran over the ongoing crisis and pledged Pakistan’s support as a brotherly neighbor.
Sharif praised Munir’s tireless work towards promoting peace and stability in the region, hoping for a soon-to-be-finalized peace agreement that would honor the Iranian nation. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on regional developments.
