Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that federal government employees’ salaries be paid before Eidul Fitr holidays. According to a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) statement, the prime minister ordered all federal departments to release salaries ahead of the holidays.

The announcement comes after the government declared March 20 and 21 as public holidays for Eidul Fitr festivities. Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission predicted that Eidul Fitr would fall on March 21 due to low chances of sighting the Shawwal crescent on March 19.
