PMEX and IFC launch Agriculture Roadshow Series from Pakpattan to promote Deliverable Maize Futures

Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited (PMEX), Pakistan’s only regulated commodity futures exchange, has launched a nationwide Agriculture Roadshow Series in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to promote awareness of its deliverable agricultural futures contracts that can help farmers, traders, and processors access more transparent pricing and better manage commodity price volatility.

The first roadshow of the series was successfully held in Pakpattan (Punjab) on Monday, July 20, 2026, bringing together approximately 125 farmers, traders, commission agents, processors, feed manufacturers, and brokers for an awareness session on regulated trading in Yellow Maize and other agricultural commodities through PMEX.

The event introduced participants to the PMEX Deliverable Yellow Maize Futures Contract, which enables exchange-based price discovery, standardized quality, exchange-regulated settlement, and physical delivery through approved delivery centres.

The programme included a presentation on PMEX’s agricultural contracts, a demonstration of the trading platform, and an interactive question-and-answer session.

IFC supported the initiative as its strategic partner, providing technical assistance and financial support aimed at strengthening agricultural market infrastructure and expanding awareness of modern risk-management tools among market participants. Meskay & Femtee Trading Company, a licensed PMEX broker, also supported the initiative by engaging local agricultural stakeholders and facilitating their participation.

Pakpattan was selected as the first stop in the series because of its significance as a major maize-producing and trading hub, making it an important market for introducing tools that support transparent price discovery and commodity price risk management. PMEX plans to conduct more roadshows across key agricultural regions to help farmers, traders, processors, and other stakeholders better understand transparent price discovery, physical delivery, and effective commodity price risk management.

Trading in Deliverable Yellow Maize Futures Contract is available through licensed PMEX brokers. Interested market participants may contact a PMEX broker or visit www.pmex.com.pk for details on account opening, contract specifications, trading procedures, and physical delivery.
