President Asif Ali Zardari urged the nation on Earth Day, celebrated worldwide on April 22nd, to pledge for planting more trees, reducing plastic waste, adopting sustainable practices, and educating youth about environmental conservation. He emphasized that a cleaner and greener Pakistan is not only a necessity but also a duty owed to future generations.

Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s awareness of environmental challenges, including climate change impacts, ecosystem degradation, flash floods, and landslides. These threats are not distant but present realities affecting people’s lives and livelihoods.

The president reiterated his vision for sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Pakistan, emphasizing past initiatives like the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme that included extensive tree plantation drives. He called for continued efforts to strengthen policies combating climate change, protecting forests, conserving water, and promoting renewable energy.

Zardari reaffirmed his commitment to this cause, urging all citizens, communities, and institutions to contribute towards building a resilient and prosperous nation in harmony with nature.
