Prince William and Prince Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer announced on Saturday that a historic portrait had been returned to Althorp House after expert inspection in London. The 61-year-old Earl Spencer recently returned from his wedding to Norwegian archaeologist Cat Jarman, 43, in Arizona.
The portrait depicts a French aristocrat of royal blood who stood for Charles I at his wedding, alongside his loyal Talbot dog. It was discovered during the recent visit to Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, which is home to Princess Diana’s final resting place.
