Prince William visited St Mary’s Island in the Isles of Scilly on Friday, marking his return from Istanbul where he watched Aston Villa win the Europa League.
The visit was facilitated by the new pilot boat John Guy, funded by The Duchy of Cornwall, which plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and supporting daily life for the island community. Kensington Palace shared a video showing Prince William arriving on St Mary’s via this vessel.
During his trip, he visited the island’s hospital to meet patients and staff, as well as local emergency responders. He also planted a replacement Monterrey pine, symbolizing recovery, resilience, and long-term renewal in the islands.
Additionally, an Instagram post highlighted the opening of a new hospital facility on St Mary’s, designed to enhance healthcare provision for the community. This extension aims to improve access, continuity of care, and resilience in this remote island setting.
