Protests Cost Pakistan 190 Million Rupees Daily, Says Finance Minister

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb revealed on Saturday that protests in Pakistan result in daily losses of around 190 million rupees. “We have to avoid this practice,” he stated while addressing the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of promoting trade and investment to stabilize the economy. “The economy is being stabilized, and prices are going down,” he said, urging the private sector to take the lead in driving economic growth.

However, a journalist questioned the minister’s claim about falling prices, pointing out that “everything has been expensive.” In response, Aurangzeb acknowledged the concern and assured that the government is monitoring the situation. “We have to activate the price control committees to extend benefits to people,” he added.

The minister also stressed the need for collective effort, stating, “We have to sit together to reach an understanding that, come what may, no compromise will be made over some basic things.”
