The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) joined hands with UN Women, International Finance Corporation (IFC), CFA Society Pakistan (CFASP), and Women On Board (WOB) to mark International Women’s Day 2024 with a gong ceremony. This year’s theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ resonated with eminent women leaders and professionals across various sectors, who participated in the event.
The celebration included bell-ringing, speeches by distinguished women leaders and male advocates of gender equality, as well as a seminar featuring insights from industry experts and representatives from the CFA Institute of Pakistan. PSX also hosted an Investor Awareness Session for women as part of the festivities.
In his remarks, Ahmed Chinoy H.I. S.I., Board Member of PSX, emphasized the importance of gender equality, diversity, and women empowerment in driving innovation and better decision-making.
Ms. Raeda Latif, Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer at PSX, underscored the economic significance of investing in women and the exchange’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
Anwar Qureshi, Operations Manager at UN Women Pakistan, highlighted the importance of the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality campaign in promoting awareness of gender equality in the private sector.
Dr. Samuel Rizk, Resident Representative for Women on Board at UNDP Pakistan, reiterated the UNDP’s commitment to championing gender equality through strategic interventions and empowering women as agents of change.
Mohsin Chaudhry, ESG Advisory Team Lead for Pakistan at IFC, emphasized the potential of greater transparency in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices to promote gender equality in Pakistan’s listed companies.
