Punjab Government Increases Court Fees and Stamp Duties Upto 1000%

The Punjab government has enacted significant increases in court fees and stamp duties across the province, under the Punjab Finance Act 2024. Fees for various court-related activities have risen dramatically, ranging from 500% to 1000%.

Punjab’s New Court Fees and Stamp Duties Price:

  • Civil and Criminal Petitions: Fees increased from Rs2 to Rs500.
  • Transferring Cases: Raised from Rs5 to Rs500.
  • Requesting Court Records: Increased from Rs2 to Rs500.
  • Filing Memorandum of Appeal, Claim, or Supervision: Jumped from Rs15 to Rs500.
  • Court Tickets for Lawyers: For civil cases, fees increased from Rs2 to Rs100; for criminal cases, from Rs2 to Rs500.
  • Undetermined Claim Amounts: Fees increased from Rs2 to Rs500.
  • Consumer Law Claims: Now costs Rs1000 per ticket.
  • Rent Determination or Eviction Requests: Fees surged from Rs2, Rs15 to Rs500.
  • Stamp Papers for Affidavits: Increased from Rs100 to Rs300.
  • Sale Agreements Stamp Papers: Set at Rs3000, up from Rs1200-3000.
  • Other Declarations Stamp Papers: Increased to Rs500 from Rs100-200.
  • Divorce Papers Stamp Duty: Increased to Rs1000 from Rs100.
  • Certified Copies of Court Documents: Cost per page increased from Rs2 to Rs100.
  • Claims under Rs50: Fees increased from Rs2 to Rs100.
  • Claims over Rs50: Fees jumped from Rs5 to Rs500.
  • Returning Original Documents: Increased from Rs2 to Rs100.
