Punjab Launches E-Bike Rental Service
The Punjab government has announced plans to introduce an electric bike rental service for its residents in Lahore. This initiative aims to reduce pollution, traffic congestion, and commuting costs.
Under this first phase of the project, 10,000 e-bikes will be deployed across the city, supported by 300 docking and charging stations. The Punjab Housing Authority (PHA) will provide land for these stations.
Officials expect the project to significantly cut carbon emissions in Lahore, helping combat air pollution and smog issues. It is being implemented with the collaboration of Lahore Parking Company (LePark), the Transport Department, Safe City, and other relevant institutions.
The e-bike service will be accessible through a mobile application, providing an affordable and modern transport option for students, office workers, and the general public. The Secretary Housing emphasized that this initiative will help reduce traffic congestion, fuel expenses, and environmental pollution while improving overall environmental conditions in the province.
