Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has announced a comprehensive relief package during Ramadan to support vulnerable communities across the province. The minister revealed plans for free iftar meals, cash transfers, and increased allowances for laborers, with each tehsil being equipped with facilities to serve 2,000 needy individuals nightly.

Speaking in Lahore, Bokhari highlighted that this initiative is not only financially supportive but also aimed at ensuring quality of life for Ramadan’s most vulnerable members. She mentioned the involvement of Maryam Nawaz, who has contributed meals to these arrangements, and praised the management team for organizing everything efficiently and smoothly.

Under the banner of the Ramadan Savings Festival, Bokhari emphasized that nearly three dozen bazaars are operating in 25 districts, benefiting millions of people with discounted goods. Cash transfers through the Nigehban Ramadan card continue, now providing up to 10,000 rupees for laborers—up from the previous allowance of 3,000.

In addition to these measures, Bokhari noted that hopes are high for a successful Pakistan-India cricket match. She emphasized that performance in sports should be viewed as part of normal competition dynamics and not solely based on outcomes. Moreover, she highlighted the cultural importance of Basant, which aims to enhance national sentiments and improve social harmony.

Her comments underscore Punjab’s commitment not only to providing essential aid but also to fostering a supportive environment during this holy month.
