Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Avoided Public Displays of Affection

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were not particularly demonstrative in their affections towards each other.

According to the book, The Queen: 70 Chapters in the Life of Queen Elizabeth II, by Ian Lloyd, the couple rarely displayed public displays of affection even when they were together with others close to them.

Lloyd noted that during Philip’s three-week stay at Balmoral, there was little evidence of their relationship being particularly affectionate.

Royal courtier Mike Parker also commented on this, stating in a 1992 interview that Prince Philip ‘doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve.’
