Rachel Zoe Shares Jewelry Advice During Interview

Rachel Zoe recently purchased a new piece of diamond jewelry she has dubbed her “freedom ring,” a bold statement following the separation from longtime partner Rodger Berman in 2025. During an appearance on Today, she delved into her decision to invest in meaningful jewelry beyond engagement or marriage.

“I call this my freedom ring,” Zoe shared. “It’s not just for those moments of getting engaged; it’s about celebrating independence and personal empowerment.” Host Jenna Bush Hager chimed in, urging viewers to purchase a diamond now if they believe in their own narratives surrounding jewelry.

Zoe, who has appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, revealed the custom ring was commissioned from Ring Concierge. She mentioned that her youngest son Kaius played a part in selecting the oval-shaped diamond. “He chose the stones,” Zoe said. “And he said, ‘Mommy, you be the big one. And me and Sky are on each side beside you.'”

The designer’s first engagement ring came when she welcomed her newborn son, a nearly 10-carat ring by Neil Lane in 1998. This followed their tumultuous 18-year partnership that began as students at George Washington University in 1991 and ended with the birth of their son Skyler in 2011. They welcomed their second son, Kaius, on December 22, 2013.

Zoe’s new ring is more than just a piece of jewelry; it’s her statement that women should not be confined to only meaningful jewelry for significant life milestones such as engagement or marriage. Her purchase comes at a time when she is navigating the post-divorce landscape and reaffirms her belief in personal freedom and empowerment through fashion choices.
