With the Holy Month of Ramadan anticipated to begin in about a week, Pakistan gears up for the first roza likely falling on March 12 (Tuesday).
Weather expert Jawad Memon forecasts that although the moon for Ramadan will be born on March 10, it will not be visible until March 11. The first Taraweeh prayers are expected to take place on the night of March 11, with the first fast likely on March 12.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, will convene in Islamabad and other regions to receive and evaluate moon sighting reports before officially announcing the commencement of Ramadan.
Simultaneously, meetings across Islamic nations on March 10 will observe the crescent moon, a pivotal step in determining Ramadan’s start. However, leading astronomers predict the moon’s visibility to be too faint on March 10 across much of the Islamic world due to its conjunction with the sun.
Based on these projections, Ramadan is expected to begin on Tuesday, March 12, following the completion of 30 days in the month of Sha’ban.
