KARACHI: Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, announced Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to elevate the Ramadan Relief Package from Rs7.5 billion to Rs12.5 billion, aiming to alleviate the burden on the common man.
During a visit to a Utility Store, Minister Kamal emphasized the government’s commitment to providing relief to the public, stating that all items were available at reasonable prices in Utility Stores. However, he clarified that Utility Stores are not a solution to combat inflation but rather a step towards relief.
Minister Kamal highlighted the challenges of controlling inflation and improving trade in the country, stressing the need for joint efforts by the federal and provincial governments. He mentioned the conditions set by the IMF, which restrict the government from providing subsidies.
Addressing the trade improvement challenge, Minister Kamal mentioned the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Centre (SIFC) to facilitate investors and enhance the investment process in the country. He emphasized the need for Pakistan to engage with the world, citing Africa as an untapped opportunity.
Regarding cabinet formation, Minister Kamal expressed the government’s intention to persuade the PPP to join the Cabinet, acknowledging the contributions of various parties in forming the government.
Kamal visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, offering prayers for the country’s development and prosperity.
